TOF is providing pro bono advice to the environmental and social team of the planned Sombwe hydroelectric power plant project (located about 300 km north from Lubumbashi, Haut-Katanga province in the south east of Congo) and transmission line. Advice includes baseline gathering methodologies, IFC performance standards, acceptable international practice, stakeholder engagement (including ICP/FPIC) and potential required safeguards plans. Input is provided on an ad hoc basis. The project will have impacts on local communities and the environment.  TOF is not directly involved in the activities on the ground. The project proponent is Kipay Energy & Investments. Contact Dhillion at TOF for more information. Project closed February 2021.
